(Nov 209) We are very delighted to have received support from the Perry Foundation by way of a grant for purchasing safety equipment for the Christchurch dojo. All New Zealand Open Kyokushin-Kai Karate Nationals (Sep 09, Hamilton) The IKO Matsushima NZ Nationals were held in Hamilton on the 19th and 20th of Sep 2009 (Open Kata, Non-Contact and Full-Contact Championship). Congratulations to our successful 6 members representing the Canterbury Dojo:.

15 Aug 09: Australian Nationals Samurai Cup - Held at the University of NSW Kensington, Sydney (Junior and adults full contact divisions). Kyokushin Karate National Tournament (30th May 2009) The annual full contact karate championships were held at the Linwood College Gymnasium in Christchurch on Saturday 30th May 09. The event attracted competitors from around New Zealand and Australia. Congratulations to Senpai Mark Galloway for getting second place in the Mens LightWeight (below 70kg) division!
New Website for Kyokushin.co.nz (February 2009) The new www.Kyokushin.co.nz website was re launched in February 2009. IKO Matsushima New Zealand National Karate Championship (October 2008) The IKO Matsushima NZ Nationals were held in Hamilton in October 2008. Our 4 members representing the Canterbury Dojo were very successful. Congratulations to: -- Craig Raxworthy for winning the Novice Heavyweight Full Contact Karate Division.-- Sam Varley for placing second in the Junior 8-9 yrs Kata division (see video) -- Kai Edwards for placing third in the Junior 7 yrs Full Contact Karate (see video) -- Mitsumi Fujiwara who made it to the quarter finals of the Junior 12 yrs Kata division.
