SENSEI
KARL VARLEY - Sandan
Sensei Karl is an accomplished instructor
with over 20 years continuous training in Kyokushin
Karate. He began training as a teenager for fitness
and soon began to enjoy the explosive style and hard
training that personifies Kyokushin Karate. Sensei Karl now
regularly trains overseas including Japan under some
legendary instructors.
Sensei Karl gained international
acclaim and respect for his amazing feats of
determination and strength most notably in 2002 when he
broke 30 baseball bats
(see video) with his bare shins in 50
seconds to break the current World Guinness Record
of 23.
Sensei Karl opened his first Dojo in 1997 and in
2005 founded the NZ Karate Association
Kyokushinkaikan, highlighting his continued
commitment to the New Zealand Martial Arts
Community. In 2008 the organization was affiliated
with the original Kyokushin organization in
Japan, IKO Sosai, founded by Sosai Masutatsu
Oyama. Sensei Karl is now the NZ Branch
Chief of IKOK Sosai. |
